Are you familiar with troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical problems with equipment ?Are you looking for a job in Nepean, Ontario?Are you willing work away from your house if required?Are you someone who shows up at work and is reliable?Do you enjoy elements of physical work throughout your shift?If so, we may have the perfect job for you!!—–Our client, a trusted supplier of cement, construction aggregates, and concrete all over Canada, is looking for a plant maintenance mechanic for their Nepean Quarry.The Plant maintenance performs a combination of tasks ranging from housekeeping activities, operation of fixed and mobile equipment used in the production of aggregates but predominantly maintenance tasks on the equipment.Job DescriptionComplete cleanup assignments using a skid steer and/or hand-held tools.Work safely around moving and/or rotating equipment while using the required personal protective safety equipment.Perform pre-operational checks and operate assigned mobile equipment as trained and directed.Ensure that site meets or exceeds all regulatory guidelines by the client company.Be aware of environmentally sensitive areas and be alert to correct environmental problems that may develop in the assigned work area.Capable of working in diverse indoor/outdoor environments, which would include: dust, hot, cold, and noise.Work in a team environment with other co-workers, supervisors and managers.Perform daily inspections as part of our preventative maintenance program.Assist in repairing broken or malfunctioning equipment.Assist with plant repairs as needed and work at heights when required.Follow instructions, work within a team setting and respond to Supervisor’s direction.Promote safety culture through engagement with employees, JHSC, subcontractors and suppliers, implementation and maintenance of local and regional initiatives with an objective of “zero” safety incidents.Promotes safety policies, processes and review procedures to ensure that site meets or exceeds all regulatory guidelines by the client company.Ensure that the plant and surrounding site is kept safe, presentable, and functional.Understand Near Miss and HI process, MVA’s, FA’s, MI’s, LTI’s, Daily Safety Huddles, Risk Assessments, Confined Space and WAH permitsComply with OHSA and all of its applicable regulations.Wear all Personal Protective equipment as required.Report all incidents, near misses and safety hazards to the Supervisor.Follow Lockout/Tag out/Try out procedures and be aware of emergency response plan awareness.Perform other duties as assigned to assist in the efficient operation of the plant and site.ShiftDays/Night: Monday -FridayTime: From 6am- 7pm and 6pm to 7:00amOvertime after 44 hoursExperience/EducationSecondary school diploma or equivalentIndustrial/Mining plant operational experienceHeavy equipment operation experience an assetBasic welding and fitting is preferredMinimum 3 years experience in maintenanceKnowledge/SkillsSpecific mobile equipment trainingSpecific Modules – Surface Miner trainingMechanical aptitudeComputer literacy an assetGood written and oral communication skills.Working Conditions and Physical DemandsWorking outdoors and varied temperatures and weather conditions.Working indoors in varied conditions (ie. hot, noisy, dusty).Rotating shifts, overtime and weekends when required.Mobility through all areas of the plant required, including stairs and ladders.Regular bending, kneeling, reaching and lifting less than 50 lbsWorking at heights and confined spacesApply Today.
